The only thing running in the mind is the thought of getting a gold'

Indian welterweight Vikas Krishan Yadav will draw on all of his skill, discipline and determination to return from London with an Olympic medal and fulfil a promise he made to his father. Here's an interview with him, by Bharat Sharma.

Comfort-wise, is it better to play in front of a home crowd or in the international arena? It is good to play at home, but it has its disadvantages too. There is a lot of pressure, people expect you to win all the time. As I have got a lot of experience now, the place really does not make any difference. The motive is to get in the ring and win the bout....

How do you prepare yourself mentally before a big game?

I don't do anything extra before a big bout. I remain focussed on the job at hand and pay attention to my  coach's advice. Another thing is that I never fear my opponent.

London Olympics - what are the expectations you have set for yourself.

The only thing running in the mind is the thought of getting a gold. It is the first time I will be competing at  the Olympics and I am really looking forward to it. While the team was training in Ireland last month, I was juggling with my practice and exam preparation in Bhiwani, Haryana. I think my preparation has been good even though I was not able to acclimatise to the expected weather like the other boxers who went to  Dublin. In fact, I prefer training in India for longer duration as I feel home sick abroad.

How do you keep yourself fit for your sport?

I do the usual training which is working in the gym early morning and then spending time in the ring. As far  as food habits go, I eat all stuff that an athlete requires. Drinking milk is something that I can't do without. Ever since I was a child, I loved milk and fruits.
India is a cricket country; do you think your sport is underrated?
I won't like to compare boxing with any other sport. It has its own place. Vijender Singh brought the sport into the limelight by winning bronze in Beijing and its popularity will only increase if we win the medals expected of us at the London Games. I think we should get at least three medals this time around.

Tell us about a memory that is etched in your mind that proves to you that you cannot do without mom.
Both my father and mother have been really supportive. The one thing that will stay with me is that my mother always let me do what I wanted to do. She never forced me to study. I was always into sports and she encouraged me to take whatever game I wanted, at a time when other parents focussed more on the academics.
What is the message you would like to give your mom?
She has told me that she would settle for nothing less than a gold and I want to say to her that I will give my all to make her proud. A medal would be the best gift to my mother, who has spent most of her life thinking I will win at the Olympics.

How has mom been an influence in your life, professionally and personally?
I have no role models but as I said before, she has been a stoic mother. I owe her whatever little success I have achieved so far and a medal at the Olympics will be a fitting present for her years of love and support.

Cancer survivor Yuvraj named in India squad

India on Wednesday picked Yuvraj Singh, who is recovering from cancer, in a 30-man preliminary squad for the World Twenty20 to be played in Sri Lanka later this year.
The 30-year-old, regarded as one of the most flamboyant batsmen in world cricket, completed chemotherapy in the United States in April after being diagnosed with a rare germ-cell tumour between his lungs early last year.
Yuvraj, who has not played competitive cricket since the two home Tests against the West Indies in November, only recently began light training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.
It is not certain that Yuvraj will be selected in the final 15-man squad that must be finalised by mid-August for the September 18-October 7 tournament.
The left-hander will need to play club cricket in the intervening period if he is to remain a serious contender for the tournament.
Yuvraj, speaking in an International Cricket Council television show last month, declined to give a time frame on being match-fit.
"I've done six or seven sessions of very light training and very light yoga," he said. "I'm just getting back into the groove of being a normal person.
"I can't really give a timeframe but I have to see how my body is recovering and how fast I can come on the field. I might take six months, I might take two months. So I don't know.
"But the day I feel 100 percent I surely will be back."
Yuvraj played a key role in India's 50-over World Cup triumph last year, scoring 362 runs and taking 15 wickets in nine matches to be named the man of the tournament.
He rose to fame when he smashed England's fast bowler Stuart Broad for six sixes in one over during the inaugural World Twenty20 in South Africa in 2007, which India went on to win.
India failed to reach the semi-finals in the next two editions in 2009 in England and 2010 in the West Indies.
Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has been out of favour since the England tour last year, was also named in the preliminary squad announced by the Indian board in a media release.
India's preliminary squad:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Umesh Yadav, Ashok Dinda, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Mandeep Singh, Piyush Chawla, Ravindra Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Harbhajan Singh, Munaf Patel, Naman Ojha, Dinesh Karthik, Praveen Kumar, Lakshmipathy Balaji.

'Out of ideas' Google clueless how to spend $50bln cash reserves: PayPal co-founder

Sydney, July 18 (ANI): Global e-commerce company PayPal's co-founder Peter Thiel has said Internet search giant Google has run out of ideas and doesn't know how to spend its money.
"Google also has 50 billion dollars in cash," Thiel said during a technology conference also attended by Google chairman Eric Schmidt.
"It has no idea how to invest that money in technology effectively ... if we're living in an accelerating technological world, and you have zero per cent interest rates, you should be able to invest all of your money in things that will return it many times over. The fact is you're out of ideas," he added.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Schmidt countered that the company had no deficit of business models, but instead suffered from real-world constraints.
"What you discover in running these companies is that there are limits that are not cash. There are limits of recruiting, limits of real estate, regulatory limits," he said.
Thiel shot back saying, 'Google is just a search engine, and no longer a technology company'.
"Then the intellectually honest thing to do would be to say that Google is no longer a technology company," the paper quoted Thiel, as saying.
"It's basically a search engine developed a decade ago. That's why all these companies are building up hordes of cash, because they don't know what to do with it, but they don't want to admit they're no longer tech companies," he added. (ANI).....

Android Vs. IOS

What is ios?

iOS (previously iPhone OS) is a mobile operating system developed and distributed by Apple Inc. Originally released in 2007 for the iPhone and iPod Touch, it has been extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPad and Apple TV. Unlike Microsoft's Windows CE (Windows Phone) andGoogle's Android, Apple does not license iOS for installation on non-Apple hardware. As of June 12, 2012, Apple's App Store contained more than 650,000 iOS applications, which have collectively been downloaded more than 30 billion times.[3] It had a 16% share of the smartphone operating system units sold in the last quarter of 2010, behind both Google's Android and Nokia's Symbian.[4][dated info] In May 2010, in the United States, it accounted for 59% of mobile web data consumption (including use on both the iPod Touch and the iPad).[5][dated info]
The user interface of iOS is based on the concept of direct manipulation, using multi-touch gestures. Interface control elements consist of sliders, switches, and buttons. The response to user input is immediate and provides a fluid interface. Interaction with the OS includes gestures such asswipetappinch, and reverse pinch, all of which have specific definitions within the context of the iOS operating system and its multi-touch interface. Internal accelerometers are used by some applications to respond to shaking the device (one common result is the undo command) or rotating it in three dimensions (one common result is switching from portrait to landscape mode).
iOS is derived from OS X, with which it shares the Darwin foundation, and is therefore a Unix operating system.
In iOS, there are four abstraction layers: the Core OS layer, the Core Services layer, the Media layer, and the Cocoa Touch layer. The current version of the operating system (iOS 5.1.1) dedicates 1-1.5 GB of the device's flash memory for the system partition, using roughly 800 MB of that partition (varying by model) for iOS itself.[6]

What is Android?

Android is a Linux-based operating system for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. It is developed by the Open Handset Alliance, led by Google, and other companies.[2]
Google purchased the initial developer of the software, Android Inc., in 2005.[7] The unveiling of the Android distribution in 2007 was announced with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium of 86 hardware, software, and telecommunication companies devoted to advancing open standards for mobile devices.[8] Google releases the Android code as open-source, under the Apache License.[9] The Android Open Source Project(AOSP) is tasked with the maintenance and further development of Android.[10]
Android has a large community of developers writing applications ("apps") that extend the functionality of the devices. Developers write primarily in a customized version of Java.[11] Apps can be downloaded from third-party sites or through online stores such as Google Play (formerly Android Market), the app store run by Google. In October 2011, there were more than 500,000 apps available for Android,[12] and the estimated number of applications downloaded from the Android Market as of December 2011 exceeded 10 billion.[13]
Android became the world’s leading smartphone platform at the end of 2010.[14] For the first quarter of 2012, Android had a 59% smartphone market share worldwide.[15] At the half of 2012, there were 400 million devices activated and 1 million activations per day.[16] Analysts point to the advantage to Android of being a multi-channel, multi-carrier OS.[17]

What is .net?

The .NET Framework (pronounced dot net) is a software framework developed by Microsoft that runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. It has two components.
1)Common Language Run-time(CLR)
2)Frramework Class Library(FCL)
Microsoft also produces a popular integrated development environment largely for .NET software called Visual Studio.Microsoft started the development on the .NET Framework in the late 1990s originally under the name of Next Generation Windows Services (NGWS). By late 2000 the first beta versions of .NET 1.0 were released. Now a day .net 4.0 was realeased.
#####

Design Features:

Interoperability
Because computer systems commonly require interaction between newer and older applications, the .NET Framework provides means to access functionality implemented in programs that execute outside the .NET environment. Access to COM components is provided in the System.Runtime.InteropServices and System.EnterpriseServices namespaces of the framework; access to other functionality is provided using the P/Invoke feature.
Common Language Runtime Engine
The Common Language Runtime (CLR) is the execution engine of the .NET Framework. All .NET programs execute under the supervision of the CLR, guaranteeing certain properties and behaviors in the areas of memory management, security, and exception handling.
Language Independence
The .NET Framework introduces a Common Type System, or CTS. The CTS specification defines all possible datatypes and programming constructs supported by the CLR and how they may or may not interact with each other conforming to the Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) specification. Because of this feature, the .NET Framework supports the exchange of types and object instances between libraries and applications written using any conforming .NET language.
Base Class Library
The Base Class Library (BCL), part of the Framework Class Library (FCL), is a library of functionality available to all languages using the .NET Framework. The BCL provides classes that encapsulate a number of common functions, including file reading and writing, graphic rendering, database interaction, XML document manipulation, and so on.
Simplified Deployment
The .NET Framework includes design features and tools which help manage the installation of computer software to ensure it does not interfere with previously installed software, and it conforms to security requirements.
Security
The design is meant to address some of the vulnerabilities, such as buffer overflows, which have been exploited by malicious software. Additionally, .NET provides a common security model for all applications.
Portability
While Microsoft has never implemented the full framework on any system except Microsoft Windows, the framework is engineered to be platform agnostic,[6] and cross-platform implementations are available for other operating systems (see Silverlight and the Alternative implementations section below). Microsoft submitted the specifications for the Common Language Infrastructure (which includes the core class libraries, Common Type System, and the Common Intermediate Language),[7][8][9] the C# language,[10] and the C++/CLI language[11] to bothECMA and the ISO, making them available as official standards. This makes it possible for third parties to create compatible implementations of the framework and its languages on other platforms.

#####

Security

.NET has its own security mechanism with two general features: Code Access Security (CAS), and validation and verification. Code Access Security is based on evidence that is associated with a specific assembly. Typically the evidence is the source of the assembly (whether it is installed on the local machine or has been downloaded from the intranet or Internet). Code Access Security uses evidence to determine the permissions granted to the code. Other code can demand that calling code is granted a specified permission. The demand causes the CL to perform a call stack walk: every assembly of each method in the call stack is checked for the required permission; if any assembly is not granted the permission a security exception is thrown.
#####
.net Architecture:
The purpose of the Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) is to provide a language-neutral platform for application development and execution, including functions for Exception handling, Garbage Collection, security, and interoperability. By implementing the core aspects of the .NET Framework within the scope of the CL, this functionality will not be tied to a single language but will be available across the many languages supported by the framework. Microsoft's implementation of the CLI is called the Common Language Runtime, or CL.
The CIL code is housed in CLI assemblies. As mandated by specification, assemblies are stored in the Portable Executable (PE) format, common on the Windows platform for all DLL and EXE files. The assembly consists of one or more files, one of which must contain the manifest, which has the metadata for the assembly. The complete name of an assembly (not to be confused with the filename on disk) contains its simple text name, version number, culture, and public key token. Assemblies are considered equivalent if they share the same complete name, excluding the revision of the version number. A private key can also be used by the creator of the assembly for strong naming. The public key token identifies which public key an assembly is signed with. Only the creator of the keypair (typically the .NET developer signing the assembly) can sign assemblies that have the same strong name as a previous version assembly, since he is in possession of the private key. Strong naming is required to add assemblies to the Global Assembly Cache.

Computers with deadly virus to lose web link: FBI

London, July 5 (IANS) Internet users across the world have been warned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that if they have the "Alureon/DNS Changer bot" virus on their computers, they will lose their internet connections July 9.
The virus "spoofs" popular websites in an attempt to steal personal information, the Daily Mail reported.
The software found its way into thousands of computers worldwide last year. It redirect users away from trusted websites, towards spoof websites in a bid to steal financial and personal information.
When the attack was noticed, the FBI routed infected machines through its server to stop the attacks.
But the servers will be taken down July 9. When this happens, computers still infected are likely to lose their internet connection without warning.
Warnings about the problem have been splashed across Facebook and Google, and the FBI has set up a special website.
The number of computers infected is more than 277,000 worldwide. The number was 360,000 in April. Of those still infected, the FBI believes that about 64,000 are in the US.
Users still infected will have to call their service providers for deleting the malware and reconnecting to the internet.
Last year, when international hackers ran an online advertising scam to take control of more than 570,000 infected computers around the world, the FBI agents realised that if they turned off the malicious servers being used to control the computers, all the victims would lose their internet service.
The FBI then installed two clean internet servers to take over instead of the malicious servers so that people would not suddenly lose internet.
